Want to play old Xbox games?
1:
Download the 2007 update from Xbox360.com. There is a download link
that allows you to download the necessary updates directly from
Microsoft. Don't worry, it's directly from Xbox.com. Simply click the
link at the bottom of this article and download the 2007 Xbox 360
update directly from their website. When you click the link a box will
open asking you if you want to save the file. Save the file to your
desktop.
Step
2:
Extract the files and burn the update to a blank CD/DVD. Now that
you have the file on your desktop, right click on it; a sub-menu will
open. Click "Send-to" and select desktop. This will unzip the file to
your desktop. It is a 13MB file so be patient. Once the file is
unzipped it will only be one file called default.xex. Right click on
this file; a sub-menu will open. Click "write file to cd" and allow
your PC to burn it to a blank CD; make sure you have a blank CD in the
CD/DVD burner drive.
Step
3:
Make sure the files copied properly. Once the files are done being
written, explore the CD using your Windows explorer. Make sure there
are no sub-folders and that the default.xex is the only file on the CD;
otherwise you must burn it again.
Step
4:
Install the update to your Xbox 360. Take your update CD and insert
it into your Xbox 360 console. Boot the console up and wait a minute. A
message will display asking if you wish to apply a new software update,
click yes. It may take a few minutes to update your console. A message
will appear after the update is completed, and your Xbox 360 Console is
all set.
Enjoy!
